Smith, known as The Wizard for his acrobatic defensive adjustments at shortstop, played in the league for 19 seasons as a member of the San Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals. Smith s career achievements include major league records for assists and double plays by a shortstop, as well as a National League record with 2,511 games played at his position. He was a Gold Glove winner in 13 consecutive seasons and a 15-time All-Star.
These 2014 $1 Baseball Hall of Fame Silver coins have an Mint State 70 grade from the Professional Coin Grading Service. A Mint State 70 grade indicates a coin that was perfectly struck by the mint. The P mint mark identifies the coin as a product of the Philadelphia Mint. The Ozzie Smith label includes his player name, and authenticated signature, and comes sealed inside the coin s packaging.On the obverse side of each coin is the image of an open baseball glove. Inside the palm of the mitt are the engravings Liberty, In God We Trust, and 2014. The reverse side of the coin features a 3D depiction of a baseball, with engravings United States of America and E Pluribus Unum.
