This 84 page illustrated book contains three essays that explore aspects of the relationship between the visual arts and scientific exploration of the natural world in the nineteenth century. It is in excellent condition except for small scuff/stain at the bottom of the front cover as shown. It is volume 1of the Franklin D. Murphy lecture series of the Spencer Museum of Art in Lawrence, Kansas.
