Originally Published in 1883!

If you are the first to bid on this auction, using the buy-it-now option, YOU WIN! There is no chance of being outbid! DON'T WAIT!

Here is another lovely antique instruction CD REPUBLICATION! A lithographed silk knitting instruction book produced in 1883 by the Nonotuck Silk Company! Wow, the original price was 6 cents!!! The ''How to Use Florence Knitting Silk, No. 5'' book covers the gentle home art of clothing one's family in the finest of socks, stockings, mittens and decorative edgings!

This is a CD REPRODUCTION of an 1883 booklet called How to Use Florence Knitting Silk Book, No. 5. You have everything you need to recreate these lovely items but the vintage/antique knitting needles (found on Atomic Mall!) and the vintage/antique silk or cotton thread (also found on Atomic Mall!) to put a pretty in every room of your home and for you and yours to wear! Just have to hunt for a little bit!!! :^)

It includes 43 patterns and ''Rules'' so you can see item will keep you busy a long time these coming cold winter months making beautiful knit items for you and yours, as gifts or to sell at autumn/winter craft fairs.

Its 64 pages have been transferred to a disk for your ease of usage. No crumbly pages to get grimy, torn or lost. This CD Republication contains complete instructions for making a plethora of knitting laces for clothing embellishments, curtains, linens and other items! It even has some mitten, sock and other patterns included! There are many lovely etchings demonstrating the construction, implements and embellishment techniques from the late 1880's. Scarce and intriguingly useful information jam-packed in 64 pages just waiting for your creative muse and touch!

A quote: Popular demand for our publications on knitting, induces us to offer No. 5 in our series. The contents of this number consist of rules for laces, mittens, and fancy designs suitable for stockings or mittens.'' ''It had not been our purpose in any of our publications to offer instruction in the first steps of the art of knitting, as we assume that those who will seek guidance from the pages of these books, will have already advanced beyond that point in their domestic education. We advise those who have never received the primary lessons in knitting to learn at once from some friend, and thereby realize that it is a recreation that may be indulged in and enjoyed at any moment when rest from more laborious work is required.''
