Here is another lovely antique instruction CD Republication! A lithographed silk crochet instruction book originally produced in 1890 by the Nonotuck Silk Company! Wow, the original price was 6 cents!!! The ''Florence Home Needlework'' item covers the gentle home art of crochet via clothing one's family in the finest of laces, decorative edgings, Gentlemen's Four-in-Hands (Ties), Wheel motifs and more!
It includesa plethora of patterns and stitches so you can see item will keep you busy a long time making beautiful crocheted items for you and yours, as gifts or to sell at autumn & winter craft fairs.
Its 100 pages contains complete instructions for making a plethora of crocheted laces for clothing embellishments, curtains, linens and other items! It has over 129 steelplate etchings included! It was originally translated from German and there are many crocheted stitches shown (with instructions) that I have never heard of before! There are many lovely etchings demonstrating the construction, implements and embellishment techniques from the late 1880's. Scarce and intriguingly useful information jam-packed in 100 pages just waiting for your creative muse and touch!
An Excerpt:
''The discriptions are illustrated by engravings made by...artists expressly for this edition, and are so clear that we think little difficulty will be experienced by our readers in the use of the beautiful stitches employed by the people of other countries in their home needle-work.
Crochet is undoubtedly the most popular of any kind of needle-work, owing to its simplicity and beauty. If it is admired in the cheaper textile materials, such as cotton, linen and wool, how much better must be the effect when the patterns are produced from a suitable silk thread!''
