Fleisher's Knitting Manual
Published by S. B. & B. W. Fleisher, Philadelphia
c 1898
(Includes crochet patterns, too! See table of contents below.)
If you are the first to bid on this auction, using the buy-it-now option, YOU WIN! There is no chance of being outbid! DON'T WAIT!
Here is another lovely antique book CD REPUBLICATION! This is an antique collection of knit and crochet baby, infant, child, women's, men's and afghan patterns (many with steel plate etchings of the finished products) from 1898 or earlier! Perfect for the clothing recreationists out there, for SCA, or just for your heart's pleasure!
It includes approximately 133 (I lost count!) of clearly written instructions and patterns which can be read about below.
You can find the vintage and antique silk and wool yarns on Atomic Mall to recreate the beautiful and unique items! Just have to hunt a little bit!!! :) Or, of course, you can utilize contemporary materials from your local fabric and hobby stores when recreating these historic gems!
This CD REPUBLICATION contains complete instructions for making a plethora of Victorian clothing and household comforts, such as: booties, caps, stockings, afghans leggings, jackets, underdrawers, undervests, vests, mittens, reins (a child's plaything), capes, coats, hoods, fascinators, comforters, petticoats, shawls, skirts, slippers, stitches and more!
There are many lovely illustrations demonstrating the construction and embellishment techniques for the clothing from the late 1800's. Scarce and intriguingly useful information jam-packed in 226 pages just waiting for your creative muse and touch!
