This linen towel is heavy linen in cream color, embroidered on one end with a violets and some little daisies, and with woven in stripes along both long sides. Crochet on short ends too. Very colorful combo of shades.
Design: one short end has a 2x3" motif of embroidered violet and daisies. Both hems are crochet with varigated purple and yellow scallops. Long sides are salvage.
Fiber: unmarked, linen (cool with slubs under magnification) with cotton embroidery threads
Nice thick, cotton towel with 1/4" hem on two short sides with hand stitching with crochet edging.
Special features: violet flower, or maybe viola?
Color: cream colored towel with bright purple, yellow, green and red colors of embroidery. Crochet edging is variegated purple and yellow. Stripes are woven in yellow and blue.
Age: Probably 1930s or 1940s Quality of the towel is excellent.
Condition: very good for its age. No rips, tears or damage. Looks unused but since it has been stored a long time, give it a quick wash before use.
Pretty little towel that looks beautiful and you can use it for the dishes or guests too.?
