Description
This is a lovely cup and saucer by J & G Meakin. It is in a pretty floral pattern called Sunshine and is made in England. This tea cup and saucer pair shows some signs of wear, but is in overall good condition.
The bright, cheerful pattern would make a great addition to your autumn table. The cup measures 3-1/2 inches in diameter at the top and is 2-3/4 inches deep.
The saucer measures just under 6 inches in diameter and is in fairly good condition.
There are some stray paint marks and a few scuff marks near the bottom of the cup, probably due to storage near other items.
There is a tiny "flea bite" glazing flaw in the rim of the cup. It is a concave little "divot" and looks like it might be the result of a glaze bubble that flaked off.
There is also a small glazing flaw on the edge of the saucer. It measures less than 1/4 inch in length and looks like the saucer was dinged slightly before it was glazed and fired.
The mark from the bottom of the saucer shows the maker and the name of the pattern. It has a "REG #" of 561073. The mark on the bottom of the cup is engraved with the maker, J&G Meakin and the place of manufacture, England.
This would make a lovely addition to a cup and saucer collection or to any collection of English china.
