Tom Donahue KMPX-FM 1967
One day while he was sitting with his wife listening to his record collection, former Top 40 DJ Tom Donahue wondered why nobody was playing this music on the radio. Tom set out to change that. This is the very early example of the revolution he started on KMPX in San Francisco from 1967.
This is a 56 minute unscoped aircheck of Tom Donahue on the air with his evening show on KMPX in 1967. Along with the mix of music which spans from rock and roll to folk to Ravi Shankar, Tom clues you in to what was going on with the San Francisco scene and the clubs.
As it was in so many cases reagrding FM Radio in the sixties, this is an item that was taped off the air. It was also an evening when Donahue was having technical problems with his microphone. The sound quality isn't as good as I typically like to offer but the historical value of the content still makes this a worthy addition to your collection.
If you always wondered what the early days of Rock and Roll on FM radio sounded like, you can't get much earlier than this.
