This commemorative plaque is from the estate of Major General Clayton L. Comfort. General Comfort was advanced to the grade of brigadier general on June 9, 1978 and assigned duty as Assistant Wing Commander, 3d Marine Aircraft Wing, alternately serving as Commanding General of the 5th and 7th Marine Amphibious Brigade, El Toro, Calif. He left that position in July 1980 so this item is almost 40 years old. His obituary is on the web site for Arlington Cemetery.The wooden plaque is about 22 by 12 inches. It is in excellent condition.
