Encyclopedia Britannica: Complete 20 Volume 4th Edition The Encyclopedia Britannica Fourth Edition (1810) is a 20 volume reference work. It was compiled from 1801 to 1809, and when completed it was bound in 20 volumes of 16,033 pages and 581 plates engraved by Andrew Bell. The editor, James Millar (1762 - 1827), an Edinburgh physician and natural scientist, worked mightily to correct the deficiencies and omissions caused in the third edition by the untimely death of Macfarquhar. These ancient volumes are a treasure trove of interesting and unusual facts and make for fascinating reading to get a sense of the times and their knowledge of the world vs what we now know of the world. This makes them perfect for researchers, historians and anyone interested in this time period and the happenings of the world at that time. This DVD contains all 20 volumes: Volume I (A - Amercement) Volume II (America - Assithment) Volume III (Association - Book) Volume IV (Book-Binding - Buridan) Volume V (Burke - Chimpanzee) Volume VI (China - Crystallization) Volume VII (Crystals - Electricity) Volume VIII (Electricity, Medical - Fordwich) Volume IX (Fordyce - Goths) Volume X (Gothofred - Hydrodynamics) Volume XI (Hydrographical - Liege (in law)) Volume XII (Liege (German bishopric) - Materia Medica) Volume XIII (Material - Micropus) Volume XIV (Microscope - Nicaea) Volume XV (Nicander - Parthenium) Volume XVI (Parthia - Poetry (start)) Volume XVII (Poetry (cont.) - Rhizobalus) Volume XVIII (Rhizophora - Scripture (start)) Volume XIX (Scripture (cont.) - Sugillation) Volume XX (Suicide - Zymosimeter) Here are some pages pulled from the collection.
