DESCRIPTION: Vintage 1980-90's- Wooden frame with plexiglass measures 10" x 12", Wall Display Collection "The Trailblazers", these coins are a symbol of the bygone American Frontier, contains fourteen Buffalo Nickels designed by James E. Fraser in 1913, dated as: (2)1920, (2)1925, (2)1928, (2)1935, (3)1936, (3)1937, the Buffalo Nickel has been and still is one of the more popular coins in the world. This collection also features five stamps: (1) a UNITED STATES POSTAGE 100th anniversary 1860-1960 PONY EXPRESS 4 stamp from 1960, (2) a 1958 OVERLAND MAIL 100th anniversary 1858-1958 U.S. POSTAGE 4 stamp, (3) a 1948 5 UNITED STATES POSTAGE stamp commemorating the 1848-1948 anniversary of SWEDISH PIONEER CENTENNIAL, (4) a UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 3 stamp commemorating the 75th anniversary of the COMPLETION OF FIRST TRANSCONTINENTAL RAILROAD 1869-1944, and (5)a 1946 US POSTAGE 3 stamp commemorating the ENTRY INTO SANTA FE 1846-1946 by the STEPHEN WATTS KEARNY EXPEDITION. FRAME TEXT READS: The buffalo nickel, first minted in 1913, was designed by James E. Fraser. The model for the buffalo was Black Diamond, a 1500 pound bison owned by the New York Zoological Gardens. It has been determined that the Indian was a composite portrait of three chiefs from different tribes. In the collection the is the Pony Express 100th Anniversary stamp first issued in 1960, the Overland Mail 100th Anniversary stamp first issued in 1958, the Swedish Pioneer Centennial stamp first issued in 1948, the First Transcontinental Railroad 75th Anniversary stamp first issued in 1944 and the Kearny Expedition stamp issued in 1948.
