Description -- Poppytrail, California Pottery, Traditional shape (Group I). Large brown, gold and green leaves. 5 5/8" diameter. This is the first of Metlox's so called Universal shapes. This pattern was designed by George Newsome. Excellent used condition with no damage. Current (07/09) replacement value $7.99.

"METLOX BROCHURE 1972 - The universal shapes retain the handcrafted touch of the potter's wheel and will complement all styles of home decor. Each item is hand decorated with delicate colors of cocoa,gold & burnt sienna which are permanently retained under a soft satin fleck glaze."

Historical Data -- The beginning of Metlox Manufacturing Company dates back to 1927 in Manhattan Beach, Ca when Willis and T. C. Prouty became interested in producing the ceramic portion of neon signs. All operations ceased in 1989.
